Passengers travelling from Blackpool Airport will soon be able to park at the terminal for free - but a £10 charge to fly out will be imposed.
The Airport Development Fee, payable at the airport, will be introduced for departing passengers over the age of 16 from 5 January. The fee will go towards a £2m investment project to upgrade the runways, facilities and capacity. It will also relieve the pressure felt by local residents who have suffered from airport users parking in their streets.
Under the new scheme, parking will be free for up to 15 days.
An alternative, especially for those on early or late flights, is to have a Blackpool Airport Hotel package, which can include free parking for the duration of the time away. Websites such as Airport Parking Offers have such arrangements available to book online.
